The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team came up short in their neutral site game against Stamford at Post last week. They are looking to turn things around this week for Homecoming with Crosbyton coming to town.
“We have played a really tough schedule so far,” Head Coach John Cornelius said. “I still feel good about this team and where we are going. Right now, we just need to execute better on offense and stop giving up so many big plays on defense.”
The Hornets have the Chieftains (2-2) coming to town this week for Homecoming. Crosbyton is coming off of a, 21-0, victory over Tahoka last week.
Coach Cornelius talked about what they will have to do in order to be successful this week, saying, “Our running game is starting to click. We just need to keep fine tuning things every week and good things will continue to hap pen.”
He added, “AJ Pesina and Eric Marquez are their two guys. Both play quarterback and running back. We will need to make sure we know where they line up at on every play. We have played four division one schools in a row. This is the first time we have faced a division two team.”
He added, “I think we match up well with Crosbyton, but they are playing inspired football right now. We need to match their intensity.”
Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. at the Hornet’s Nest.
