Amherst set to clash with #18 Wildorado

The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team is coming off of a game that ended early in the fourth quarter, as they 45’ed Wellman-Union, 62-14, with just under five minutes remaining in the contest.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 4-1 overall on the season.

Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa talked about the victory, saying, “We played well on offense, we didn’t run too many plays, but we executed. They made us work on defense and slowed down the game. So, when we got the ball we just executed to the best of our ability and that enabled us to score quickly.”

He added, “We gave up a couple of scores on just poor defense and we cannot allow that to happen this week. We were balanced through the air and on the ground. We need to continue to improve and execute.”

The Coach talked about their match-up with Wildorado this week stating that the Mustangs are ranked pretty high.

“We will have our work cut out for us,” he said. “We will need to continue to work hard on defense and execute. They have some speed so maintaining gap responsibility will be huge for us this week on defense.”

He added, “Offensively they are quick, they run hard and they throw the ball well.”

Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Wildorado.
