The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team is coming off of a, 44-34, loss to the Lubbock Home School Titans in their season-opener, as they turn their attention to the Hart Longhorns.
Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa talked about Fridays loss, saying, “The titans were good. I felt overall we didn’t play and execute the way we needed to, but credit goes to them for doing what we didn’t do. With that being said, we need to execute better and play more disciplined. We are young and our youth showed.”
He added, “We dropped four touchdown passes; we believe that won’t happen again. But if it does we need to be able to overcome that, and that will come with more playing time. As far as offense goes we played decent. We threw the ball well, but we must run the ball better.”
This week the Bulldogs host Hart for their home-opener.
“As far as Hart goes, we need to continue to improve and work on us,” he explained. “We must catch, block and run better. We have to focus on the game plan and go from there. We will have to play well.”
He added, “Defensively we must be able to stop their run game. They do a good job of controlling the clock. But again, we have to focus on us and us alone. It’s early and we need to learn to walk before we can run.”
Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Amherst.
