Fillies take down Friona at Whiteface Tourney, 56-41

The Olton Fillies’ varsity basketball team won their second match-up of the Way Out West Tournament in Whiteface on Thursday taking down the Friona Squaws, 56-41.With the win, the Fillies moved to 1-1 in tournament play on the weekend.

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team came up just short in their district-opener on Tuesday falling on the road to the Idalou Lady Cats, 47-42.With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 7-5 overall, 0-1 in district play.

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team defeated Wellman-Union, 55-38, on Thursday in their opener at the Way Out West Tournament in Whiteface.With the win, they improved to 1-0 in tournament play on the weekend.

Mustangs fall to Liberty, 63-47, in Naz Tourney Championship

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team grinding through the Nazareth Tournament varsity boy’s bracket, making their way to the Championship Game on Saturday night, where they fell to 4A Lubbock Cooper-Liberty, 6347.With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 8-1 overall on the year.

Wildcats edge out Floydada, 71-69

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball went on the road Tuesday and took down the Whirlwinds in Floydada, 71-69.With the win, the Wildcats improve to 1-2 overall on the year.

Nettes come up short against Ropes, 64-61

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team came up short against the Ropes Eagles on Tuesday in Sudan, 64-61.With the loss, the Nettes fall to 4-6 overall on the year.Sudan poured in 15 points in the opening quarter, but trailed the Lady Eagles, 19-15, at the end of the first quarter.

Hornets sting Bulldogs, 77-34

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team went on the road and took down the Amherst Bulldogs on Tuesday, 77-34.Sudan was assessed a pre-game tech, putting Kevin Garcia on the free-throw line for two shots. He sank both attempts for Amherst, putting them in front, 2-0, prior to the tip-off.

The Littlefield Wildcat varsity football team’s season came to an end on Friday in Sweetwater, as they fell to the Wall Hawks, 56-21, at the Mustang Bowl.With the loss, the Wildcats finish the season with a mark of 7-5 overall on the season.
