Nettes take down Olton Fillies, 59-35

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team pulled away in the second half of their contest with the Olton Fillies on Friday to take the district contest, 59-35.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 19-8 overall, 10-1 in district play, while the Fillies fall to 8-3 in district play.

It was a tight game early on with Sudan taking a, 13-10, lead into quarter number two. In the second frame, Sudan outscored Olton, 13-6, to extend their lead to, 26-16, going into the locker room at halftime.

Sudan tallied 14 points in the third quarter and 19 points in the fourth quarter to run away with the contest, 59-35.

The Nettes were led by Gracyn Shultz, who netted 23 points to go along with five steals and three rebounds. Stevi Lockhart tallied 20 points, five rebounds, three steals, three blocks and one assist, while Elaine Martinez chipped in eight points, six rebounds and four assists.

Edette Herrera contributed four points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Braelyn Pointer tallied four points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Kambry Tolbert contributed three rebounds and one steal, and Blessy Montes finished with one rebound, one steal and one block.

Olton was led by Makenly Smith, who tallied 10 points, six rebounds and two steals, and Analise Ramage, who added 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Emma Acker chipped in five points, one rebound and one assist, while Kylee Noack contributed four points, three rebounds and one steal.

Olivia Cox chipped in three points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Aspen Struve added three points and one rebound and Jaclyn Alcala finished with four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
