Nettes cruise past Lady Horns, 56-26

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team used a big third quarter on Tuesday to pull away from the Lockney Lady Horns in their second meeting of district play, taking the contest, 56- 26.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 16- 8 overall, 7- 1 in district play.

Sudan jumped out to an, 113, lead in the first quarter, but Lockney bounced back in the second frame, outscoring the Nettes, 11- 10, to trim the lead to, 21-14, going into the locker room at halftime.

Sudan, though, would outscore the Lady Horns, 228, in the third quarter and, 134, in the fourth quarter to run away with the contest, 56- 26.

Stevi Lockhart tallied 22 points, to go along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Gracyn Shultz chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal. Blessy Montes tallied six points, nine rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block, while Edette Herrera contributed six points, four rebounds and one assist.

Elaine tallied five points, four assists, four steals and two rebounds, while Kambry Tolbert added two points, seven rebounds and two assists, and Melo Rodriguez finished with two points, three rebounds and two steals.

The Nettes were at Floydada on Friday to take on the Lady Winds. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a home game against Ralls.

Tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m.
