The Olton Mustangs’ improved to 6-0 on the season last Friday with a, 3414, victory on the road over Sundown.
The Mustangs totaled 291 yards of offense, including 158 passing yards and 133 rushing yards.
After a scoreless first quarter, Olton got on the board, as Brady Azam connected with Santiago Jimenez for a 51-yard touchdown pass. The PAT from Jimenez was no good, leaving the score, 6-0, going into the locker room at halftime.
Zayden Falcon scored on a four-yard touchdown run to open the second half and it was followed by the PAT from Jimenez to push their lead to, 13-0. The defense would get in on the scoring, as Cesar Ceballos returned a fumble 10 yards for a touchdown, followed with the PAT from Jimenez to extend their lead to, 20-0.
Sundown would answer with a three-yard touchdown pass, followed by the two-point conversion to cut the lead to, 20-8, going into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Azam would call his own number, scoring on an 11yard touchdown run, followed by the PAT to push their lead back out to, 27-8. Sundown would respond with a 61 -yard touchdown run from Jose Aleman, but they missed the two-point conversion, trimming the lead to, 27-14.
Azam would punch in a two-yard run later in the quarter to close out the game for the Mustangs, as they took the contest, 3414.
Offensively, Azam finished the game 10-18 passing for 158 yards and one touchdown, while also adding eight carries for five yards and two scores on the ground.
Callen Burns led the rushing attack with 21 carries for 111 yarsd, while Alex Green added one carry for 13 yards and Falcon tallied one carry for four yards and a score.
In the receving game, Jimenez tallied four catches for 88 yards and a score, while Rylan Holmes hauled in four catches for 55 yards.
Defensively, the Mustangs forced five turnovers. Rigo Galvan led the way with 16 tackles, while Paytn Jimenez chipped in nine tackles and Jett Tomsu added five tackles, including one for loss and a fumble recovery. Aiden Alderson chipped in five tackles and a fumble recovery, while Kory Green contributed five tackles, one for loss and a fumble recovery, and Burns added one tackle and an interception. Ceballos finished with three tackles, two for loss, a fumble recovery and a touchdown.
