oLTON DOWNS NEW DEAL, 12-7, TAKES ONE SEED IN 3-2a

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity baseball team won a seeding game in Littlefield on Monday over the New Deal Lions, 12-7, to claim the number seed out of District 3-2A and the outright district championship.

The Littlefield varsity track teams competed at the Region I3A Regional Track and Field Meet at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene on Friday and Saturday. Individual results are as follows: Girl’s 100-meter dash 7th Lindsay Coffman 12.71 Boy’s 400-meter dash 5th Sam Hill 50.

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity softball team took game one of their 2023 Class 3A Bi-district match-up with the Alpine Lady Bucks, 11- 3, on Friday in Sweetwater. Hannah Juett started in the circle for Alpine, as she hit the lead-off batter, Mykenzie Price.

The Anton boy’s and girl’s varsity track teams competed at the Region I-1A Track Meet at South Plains College on Friday and Saturday. Individual results are as follows: Girl’s 800-meter run 15th Madison Campos 3:05.58 Girl’s 3,200-meter run 14th Jessica Rodriguez 15:54.
STATE QUALIFIERS - Springlake-Earth juniors, Taytum Goodman and Emma Samaron, both qualified for the State Track Meet in Austin this past weekend at the 1A Regional Track Meet. Goodman set two Regional record in the women’s 3,200-meter run and the 1,600-meter run and also took first in the 800-meter run. The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity track team placed fifth at the Region I-1A Track Meet at South Plains College on Friday and Saturday with 46 points. Individual results are as follows: Girl’s 800-meter run 1st Taytum Goodman 2:15.21 5th Aabriella Villanueva 2:35.
