Wolverines take down Anton 64-42

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team won their first meeting of the season with the Anton Bulldogs on Tuesday, 64-42.

With the win, the Wolverines improve to 6-3 overall, 3-0 in district play.

The Wolverines were ahead by just four points at the end of the first quarter, 18-14, but they poured in 22 points in the second frame to take a, 40-28, lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, SpringlakeEarth outscored the Bulldogs, 10-7, in the third quarter and, 14-7, in the fourth quarter to take the district contest, 64-42.

Junior, Evan DeLeon, led the team in scoring with a game-high 21 points, and he was joined in double-figures scoring by junior, Kaden Castillo, who chipped in 16 points and junior, Keshan Holmes, who finished with 12 points.

Junior, Trace Goodman, finished with eight points, while Alex Alvarez chipped in six points and Timothy Tanaro added one point in the contest.

Sergio Champion led the Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points, while Quinton Sherrod and Joseph Servantes each chipped in nine points and Lane Vellinga and Edmundo Avalos each added four points.

Rayden Cooper finished with two points in the contest.
