TENORIO’S 3 HOMERUNS LEAD LADY CATS PAST LCHS, 22-8

Alex Tenorio had a day for the Lady Cats’ varsity softball team on Saturday, as she blasted three homeruns in a 4-4 day at the plate against Lubbock Christian High School at the Seminole Tournament, as Littlefield took the contest, 22-8.

Natalia Sanchez led things off in the top of the first inning for Littlefield with a line drive single to center field. Rosa Chairez came on as the courtesy runner for the pitcher. Chairez would score on a past ball, before Cadence Sanchez grounded out to Keeley Durham at shortstop for out number one.

Brookelyn Gau drew a walk and Katelyn Gau hit an RBI-double to left field to make the score, 2-0. Tenorio followed it up with a tworun homerun to center field to stretch their lead to, 4-0. Tricia Torres singled to center field on a line drive to give the Lady Cats a base runner, and took second on a pitch, before Julie Rodriguez struck out swinging for out number two.

Alex Hernandez grounded out to Durham at shortstop to retire the side.

Emily Galbraith laid down a bunt and made it to second on an error by Rodriguez to give LCHS a runner in scoring position. Leah Richardson grounded out to Tenorio at third for out number one, but during the next at bat, Emily Galbraith stole third on an error by Taryn Golden. Mae McKown hit an RBI-single to right field to trim the lead to, 4-1. McKown took second on an error by Hernandez and she took third on a wild pitch, before Halle Galbraith drew a walk to put runners on the corners for LCHS.

Valerie Sanderson came on as the courtesy runner for the catcher, and Jayda Manny bunted into a fielder’s choice to Natalia Sanchez in the circle, as McKown scored and Sanderson advanced to second on the play with the score cut to, 4-2. Natalia Sanchez would shake it off, as she got Ellie Pruitt to strikeout swinging for out number two and Manny was picked off at first base by Golden to end the inning.

Golden singled through the right side to open the second inning and she took second on a wild pitch, before Natalia Sanchez hit a fly ball to center field that was dropped, allowing Golden to score from second, extending the lead to, 5-2. Natalia Sanchez scored on a past ball, as Cadence Sanchez made it to first on the dropped third strike that got by Halle Galbraith behind the plate, making the score, 7-2.

Cadence Sanchez scored on an error by Halle Galbraith behind the plate and Brookelyn Gau singled on a ground ball to second base, before Katelyn Gau grounded out to first for out number one. Tenorio hit her second home run of the day on a two-run shot to center field, stretching their lead to, 9-2.

Torres singled on a line-drive to left field and Rodriguez followed it up with another single to left field for the Lady Cats. The runners advanced on a past ball, before Hernandez hit a sacrifice grounded to Durham at shortstop, who got the out at first as Torres scored and Rodriguez moved up to third with two outs and the lead stretched to, 10-2. Golden, though, struck out looking to retire the side.

Natalia Sanchez gave up a leadoff walk to Durham to begin the bottom of the second inning, but she got Hannah Tidwell to strike out swinging for out number one. Durham stole second, before Addyson Rogers bunted into a fielder’s choice, as Cadence Sanchez fielded the ball and threw it to Rodriguez at first base for the out, as Durham advanced to third on the play with two outs.

Emily Galbraith singled to left field to drive in the run, trimming the lead to 10-3, but Richardson struck out swinging to end the inning for LCHS.

Natalia Sanchez doubled to center field to lead off the top of the third inning, but Cadence Sanchez flew out to Richardson in shallow centerfield and Natalia Sanchez was doubled up at second base for failing to tag up, giving them two outs. Brookelyn and Katelyn Gau would reach base on errors by the LCHS defense and Tenorio doubled on a fly ball to left field to drive in two runs, making the score, 12-3.

Torres singled on an error by the center field, bringing in Tenorio to extend the lead to, 13-3, and Torres took second on a wild pitch and third on a past ball, before Rodriguez drew a walk to put runners on the corners for Littlefield. Hernandez hit a two-RBI double to right field to push their lead to, 15-3. Golden was hit by a pitch and Hernandez stole third and home to stretch the lead to, 16-3. Natalia Sanchez drew a walk to put runners on first and second for Littlefield.

McKown was relieved in the circle by Richardson, who gave up a bunt to Cadence Sanchez, allowing two runs two score on the play to make the score, 18-3. Brookelyn Gau singled to right field and Katelyn Gau drew a walk to load the bases, before Sanchez stole home and the runners advanced 90 ft to make the score, 19-3. Brookelyn Gau scored on an error by the second baseman to make the score, 20-3, and Tenorio homered on a fly ball to center field to make the score, 22-3.

Torres laid down a bunt and reached on an error by the pitcher, but she was thrown out trying to steal third to retire the side.

LCHS would add on five runs in the bottom half of the inning, but the run-rule went into affect, as Littlefield took the contest, 22-8.

Natalia Sanchez pitched three innings for the Lady Cats giving up eight runs and six walks, while earning four strikeouts.
