The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team is looking to bounce back this week against Crosbyton on the road.

The Hornets are 1-3 heading into the contest, as the pre-district schedule begins to wind down.

Head Coach John Cornelius talked about the loss to Stamford last week, saying, “We are just not playing very good football right now. We lost two offensive possessions when we failed to recover their onside kicks and had two bad turnovers on promising drives.”

He added, “We have to stop making those mistakes or wins will be hard to come by.”

This week the Hornets travel to Crosbyton to take on the Chieftains, who are also 1-3 heading into the contest.

“We are going to really emphasize mental focus and preparation in practice [this week],” Coach Cornelius said. “We are simply having too many mental errors during the course of the game.”

He added, “We will have to have better execution and better ball security on offense and defensively, we have to win the line off scrimmage.”

Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Chieftain Stadium.
