Olton blows out Bulldogs, 69-20

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity football is making a push for the postseason, as they blew out Tahoka, 69-20, on the road on Friday night to improve to 6-3 overall, 2-2 in district play.

The Mustangs totaled 604 yards of total offense, including 310 passing yards and 294 rushing yards.

In the first quarter, senior quarterback, Logan Lassiter, connected with senior wide receiver, Jake Soliz, for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Lassiter knocked the PAT through the uprights to put the Mustangs on top, 7-0. later in the quarter, Lassiter found senior, Joel Olivas Jr., for a 33-yard touchdown pass. He booted the PAT to push their lead to, 14-0.

The Mustangs would followed it up with another touchdown through the air, as Lassiter hit Soliz for a 33-yard touchdown pass, his second of the quarter. The PAT was good from Lassiter, stretching their lead to, 21-0. Tahoka would answer with a 71-yard touchdown run, but the PAT was no good, leaving the score, 21-6.

Olton would close out the first quarter with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Lassiter to Olivas Jr. The PAT was good, making the score, 28-6, heading into quarter number two.

Tahoka opened the second frame with a 16-yard touchdown run, followed by the PAT, to trim the lead to, 28-13. But, the Mustangs wasted no time responding, as Soliz caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Lassiter, followed by the PAT, to extend their lead back out to, 35-13.

Tahoka would not go away, as the Bulldogs broke free for a 49yard touchdown run, cutting the lead to, 35-20, after the PAT. Lassiter would get loose on the ground for a 40-yard touchdown run to close out the first half with the score, 42-20.

In the third quarter, Lassiter rushed for a 10-yard touchdown and Christian Chancy followed it up with a seven-yard rushing
