Nettes sting Maidens in first meeting, 75-44

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team blasted the Morton Maidens on the road on Tuesday, 75-44.

With the win, the Nettes stay unbeaten in district play at 4-0, while improving their overall mark to, 11-11.

The Nettes took a 10-point lead, 17-7, through the first quarter and poured in 25 points in the second frame, taking a, 42-18, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Nettes edged out the Maidens, 18-16, in the third quarter and, 15-10, in the final frame to take down the Maidens, 75-44.

Sophomore, Stevi Lockhart, led the team in scoring with a team-high 21 points, to go along with four steals, three rebounds and three assists. Junior, Addison Boehning, tallied 17 points, seven steals, six rebounds, four assists and one block, while sophomore, Braelyn Pointer, chipped in 12 points, eight steals four assists and three rebounds.

Sophomore, Elaine Martinez, tallied six points, three rebounds and two steals, while junior, Liz Sital, contributed five points, five rebounds, three steals and one assist and junior, Sydney Cornelius, contributed five points and two rebounds.

Sophomore, Riley Edens, tallied four points, three rebounds, one assist and one block, while senior, Zoey Cantu, chipped in three points, two steals, one rebound and one assist, and sophomore, Kambry Tolbert, added four rebounds, two points, two assists and one block. Sophomore, Landree Gonzales, finished with six rebounds and one block in the contest.

The Nettes were at Seagraves on Friday for their second meeting with the Lady Eagles. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district pay on Tuesday with a home game against the Plains Cowgirls.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
