Nettes softball stings Hale Center, 16-11

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team took down the Hale Center Lady Owls on Tuesday, 16-11.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 2-13 overall on the season.

Hale Center took a one run lead in the top of the first inning, but the Nettes answerd with a five-run bottom of the first to make the score, 5-1, heading into the second inning.

Hale Center scored a run in the top of the second and two in the top of the third to cut he lead to, 5- 4, but the Nettes would also add a run in the bottom of the third inning to make the score, 6-4, heading to the fourth inning.

Hale Center posted two runs in the fourth and five runs in the sixth, but the Nettes would not be denied, pushing three runs across in the fourth inning, six runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning to take the contest, 16-11.

Blessy Montes and Hailey Flores each drove in four runs in the contest and the Nettes totaled 15 hits on the day.

Angelina Thorn pitched seven innings for the Nettes’ earning three strikeouts on the day.

The Nettes traveled to Sundown on Saturday to take on the Roughettes. Results were not available at press time. They will close out the regular season on Tuesday with a home game against Floydada.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
