Nettes shutout Fillies, 16-0

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team won their regular season finalee over the Olton Fillies on Saturday, 16-0, in Sudan.

With the win the Nettes finish the regular season 11-10 overall, 9-5 in district play.

The Sudan defense held the Fillies scoreless through the top of the first inning, before answering in the home half with eight runs. The Nettes would tack on six more runs in the bottom of the second and two in the bottom of the third, to secure the walk-off victory, 160.

Blessy Montes threw three innings for the Nettes, earning six strikeouts, while giving up just one hit.

At the plate for the Nettes, Kalissa Harris led the team with two RBI’s, one hit for a triple and a walk. Lexi Jennings also tallied two RBI’s and one hit, while Lilly Sanchez chipped in one hit for a double, and Haylee Toscano added an RBI and a walk. Montes contributed three walks, while Angie Thorn and Trinity Love each finished with two walks in the contest.

For the Fillies, Denise Alvarado pitched 2.1 innings, giving up 11 walks, four hits and 16 runs, six earned, while earning three strikeouts.

At the plate for the Fillies, Emma Acker had their lone hit of the game.

The Nettes are set to take on Colorado City in the Class 2A Bidistrict round of the softball playoffs on Thursday at Lubbock High School.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
