Nettes rally past Sundown, 52-50

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team rallied past the Sundown Roughettes at home on Friday, 52-50.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 10-11 overall, 3-0 in district play.

Sundown held a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 12-11, but the Nettes poured in 12 points in the second frame to outscore the Roughettes, 12-8, in the quarter, giving them a, 23-20, lead going into the locker room at halftime.

Sundown came out strong in the third quarter with a 17-point outing to regain the lead, 37-31, but in the fmal quarter, the Nettes poured in 21 points to edge out Sundown, 52-50, for the victory.

Junior, Addison Boehning, led the Nettes, posting a doubledouble with 25 points and 17 rebounds, to go along with two assists, two steals and one block. Junior, Liz Sital, joined her in double-figures scoring, with 13 points. She also had two rebounds, two assists and one steal, while sophomore, Stevi Lockhart, chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Senior, Zoey Cantu, tallied two points and one steal, while sophomore, Braelyn Pointer, contributed two points, two rebounds and one steal. Sophomore, Landree Gonzales, tallied one rebound, while junior, Sydney Cornelius, finished with two rebounds and two steals.

The Nettes traveled to Morton on Tuesday to take on the Maidens. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Friday with a road game against the Seagraves Lady Eagles.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
