Nettes fall short against Randall, 53-49

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team dropped a close contest to the Canyon Randall Lady Raiders on Monday evening, 53-49.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 2-4 overall on the season.

It was a tight contest throughout, with the Lady Raiders taking an, 11-9, lead at the end of the first frame. The Nettes made it a threepoint game going into the locker room at halftime, trailing Randall, 26-23.

Randall edged out the Nettes in the third quarter, outscoring them, 15-14, and both teams poured in 12 points in the final frame, as the Nettes fell short in their comeback efforts, 53-49.

They were led in scoring by sophomore, Stevi Lockhart, who finished with 15 points, one rebound and one assist. Junior, Addison Boehning, and sophomore, Gracyn Shultz, each chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds, while Boehning added three steals and one assist.

Sophomore, Sydnie Cornelius, tallied six points and three rebounds, while sophomore, Braelyn Pointer, contributed four points and one rebound. Sophomore, Elaine Martinez, tallied three rebounds and one steal, while sophomore, Landree Gonzales, added one rebound and sophomore, Kambry Tolbert finished with one steal.

The Nettes were at Lubbock Christian on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season after Thanksgiving with a game against Borden County on Dec. Pt at Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
