Nettes down Seagraves in district-opener, 68-36

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team opened district play on Friday with a home victory over the Seagraves Lady Eagles, 68-36.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 7-11 overall, 1-0 in district play.

Seagraves jumped out to a, 15-11, lead in the first quarter, but the Nettes responded in the second frame, pouring in 22 points to take a, 32-21, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Out of the break, the Nettes dropped 17 points in the third quarter and 19 in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 68-36.

Junior, Addison Boehning, led the team in scoring with 21 points, to go along with eight rebounds and one steal. She was joined in double-figures scoring by sophomore, Stevi Lockhart, who finished with 19 points, five assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block.

Sophomore, Gracyn Shultz, tallied six points, three rebounds, three steals, three blocks and two assists, while junior, Liz Sital, chipped in five points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists, and senior, Zoey Cantu, tallied four points, three rebounds and one assist.

Junior, Sydney Cornelius, contributed three points, three assists, two steals and one rebound, while sophomore, Landree Gonzales, finished with three points and three rebounds. Sophomore, Riley Edens, added four rebounds, three points and two steals, while sophomore, Braelyn Pointer, chipped in four rebounds, two points, two assists and one steal.

Sophomore, Elaine Martinez finished with two points and two rebounds, while sophomore, Kambry Tolbert, finished with three rebounds in the contest.
