The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team toppled the Floydada Lady Winds on Friday, 86-47, to improve to 2-0 in district play heading into the Christmas break.

In the first quarter, Sudan outscored Floydada, 26-14, and they exploded for a 34-point second quarter to take a, 60-24, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Out of the break, Sudan outscored Floydada, 12-11, in the third quarter and, 14-12, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 86-47.

The Nettes were led by Gracyn Shultz, who tallied 19 points to go along with four assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block. She was one of four Nettes in double-figures scoring.

Stevi Lockhart tallied 18 points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals, while Blessy Montes chipped in 12 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists, and Melo Rodriguez contributed 10 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Elaine Martinez tallied nine points, six steals, three rebounds and three assists, while Kambry Tolbert chipped in eight points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist, and Braelyn Pointer added six points, three assists two steals, one rebound and one block.

Edette Herrera tallied two points and two rebounds, while Brianna Sanchez added two points and Landree Gonzales finished with four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

The Nettes took on Ralls on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will return to action after the Christmas Break when they take on Sands on Dec. 28th.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
