Nettes blast Lockney, 252, in first district meeting

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team throttled the Lockney Lady Horns on the road on Tuesday, 25-2, in district play.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 2-1 in district play.

Sudan came out strong out of the gate with a nine-run first inning, taking a, 9-1, lead into the second inning. Sudan added four runs in the top of the second inning and five in the top of the third inning to make the score, 18-2, going into the fourth inning.

The Nettes would added three runs in the top of the fourth inning and four in the top of the fifth, as they took down the Lady Horns, 25-2.

Senior, Blessy Montes, pitched a complete game for the Nettes, throwing five innings in the circle, giving up 10 hits, one walk and two runs, one earned, while earning five strikeouts.

At the plate, as a team, the Nettes totaled 19 hits, led by Haylee Toscano, who finished with four hits, including three doubles, one walk and four RBI’s.

Laynee Jennings tallied three RBI’s and three hits, including a double, while Trinity Love notched three RBI’s, one hit and two walks, and Angie Thorn contributed two RBI’s, three hits including a double and one walk.

Montes chipped in one hit for a triple and two walks, while Kalissa Harris tallied one hit for a triple and Erica Herrera added three hits including a double, one walk and one RBI. Daniella Ramirez finished with one RBI, one hit for a double and a walk.

The Nettes were at home on Saturda for their second meeting with the Lady Horns. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district play on Tuesday with a road game against New Deal.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
