MUSTANGS HOLD OFF TITANS, 62-58

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity football team edged out the Lubbock Titans last week, 62-58, to improve to 14-1 overall on the season.

Olton had a big first quarter, pouring in 20 points to take a 12-point lead, 20-8, into quarter number two. The Titans poured in 23 points in the second quarter to narrow the lead to, 34-31, going into the locker room at halftime.

Both teams netted 15 points in the third quarter and the Mustangs edged out the Titans, 13-12, in the fourth quarter to hang on for the, 62-58, victory.

Chris Urbina led the team in scoring with 18 points, and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Jack Allcorn, who netted 16 points and Brennon Huguley, who finished with 12 points. Bryson Ramage tallied seven points, all of which came in the third quarter, while Israel Santillan finished with six points and Jake Soliz added three points in the contest.

The Mustangs hosted Sudan on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will open district play on Friday at home against Vega.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
