MUSTANGS CLOSE OUT PRE-DISTRICT WITH WIN OVER BOBCATS

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity football team came out in front on Friday, 21-0, after their game at Smyer was called at halftime due to inclement weather.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 4-1 overall heading into district play this week.

Junior quarterback, Logan Lassiter, finished the game, fiveof-10 passing for 85 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also added two carries for 17 yards and one touchdown.

Senior, Josue Castro-Barajas, led the rushing attack with six carries for 21 yards.

Junior, Andrew Martinez, had one catch for 45 yards and one touchdown, while junior, Eric Valencia, added two catches 34 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, sophomore, Christian Chancy, tallied three sacks, five total tackles and one fumble recovery, while sophomore, Michael Matute, chipped in one sack and three total tackles and junior, Damian Marquez, contributed one sack and five total tackles.

Junior, Brennon Huguley, brought down an interception to go along with five total tackles, while sophomore, Jacob Marquez, racked up 11 total tackles to lead the team. The Mustangs will open district

The Mustangs will open district play at home against Panhandle on Friday.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
