Lady Wolverines take over first in district

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity basketball team took down the Kress Lady Roos on Friday, 75-34, to take over sole possession of first place in the district race.

With the win, the Lady Wolverines improve to 8-3 overall, 5-0 in district play.

Junior, Sayler Beerwinkle, led the team in scoring with a game-high 31 points, to go along with 10 rebounds, four steals, four assists and three blocks. Senior, Carsann Baker, joined her in double-figures scoring with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and four steals.

Sophomore, Halee Toscano, tallied eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block, while freshman, Taytum Goodman, contributed eight points, five rebounds, six assists, 10 steals and one block. Freshman, Sydney Furr, added six points, three rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block, while sophomore, Kani Holmes, tallied five points, three rebounds, two assists, eight steals and two blocks.

Junior, Micaela Fuentes, chipped in three points, one rebound, two assists and three steals, while junior, Mahalia Delgado, finished with two points, one rebound, two assists and five steals.

The Lady Wolverines closed out the first half of district play on Tuesday with a home game against Amherst. Results were not available at press time. They will resume district play next Tuesday with a home game against Cotton Center.

Tit-off is slated for 6 p.m.
