Lady Wolverines take down Smyer on the road, 67-36

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity basketball team added another victory to their record on Tuesday, as they went on the road and took down the Smyer Lady Cats, 67-36.

With the win, they improve to 2-1 overall on the season.

Junior, Sayler Beerwinkle, led the team in scoring with 19 points, to go along with nine rebounds. Sophomore, Kani Holmes, joined her in double-figures scoring with 18 points, to go along with six assists and senior, Carsann Baker, netted 16 points, five steals and eight rebounds.

Sophomore, Halee Toscano, chipped in seven points, five assists and four steals, while freshman, Emma Samaron, tallied five points, junior, Mahalia Delgado, contributed two points and three assists and freshman, DD Delgado, finished with one steal.

Head Coach Jeri Been Goodman talked about the contest, saying, “We only had five varsity players available, so I moved up freshmen DD Delgado and Emma Samaron, who both got quality playing time and both did a great job.”

The Lady Wolverines would like to dedicate the rest of their season to their number one fan, Jimmy Wilson, who called Springlake-Earth athletics on the radio for WEST 11 Sports. He recently passed away.

The Lady Wolverines’ upcoming games against Crosbyton and Plains have been canceled. They will be in action again on Dec. 1 st at Sundown.
