The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity basketball team traveled to Amherst on Friday and took down the Lady Bulldogs, 69-16, in their first meeting of the season.
With the win, the Lady Wolverines improve to 15-7 on the year, 6-0 in district play.
Springlake-Earth jumped out to a, 14-2, lead in quarter number one, and poured in 23 points in the second frame to extend their lead to, 37-7, going into the locker room at halftime.
They netted 16 points in both the third and fourth quarters to take the contest, 69-16.
Taytum Goodman led the team in scoring with 17 points, while Sayler Beerwinkle tallied 13 points and Halee Toscano and Sydney Furr, each finished with 12 points.
Jasmine Garcia notched six points, while Mahalia Delgado added five points and Emma Samaron finished with four points.
For Amherst, they were led by Neveah Esquibel, who netted nine points in the contest. Nancy Rubio tallied three points, while Dennys Reyes and Jorney Baker each finished with two points in the contest.
The Lady Wolverines will return to the court on Friday when they travel to Cotton Center to take on the Lady Elk. Amherst will be at Lazbuddie on Friday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. for both contests.
