Lady Wolverines clinch district championship

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity basketball team locked up the district championship on Tuesday with a, 77-20 victory overa Kress.

With the win, the Lady Wolverines improve to 14-4 overall, 11-0 in district play.

Freshman, Taytum Goodman, led the team with a triple-double, posting 17 points, 13 assists and 11 steals, to go along with three rebounds. Junior, Sayler Beerwinkle, chipped in 17 points, nine steals, seven rebounds and five assists, while sophomore, Halee Toscano, tallied 16 points, six rebounds, one assist and nine steals and sophomore, Kani Holmes, contributed 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and six steals.

Senior, Carsann Baker, tallied nine rebounds, four points, three assists and four steals, while freshman, Sydney Furr, chipped in four points, four rebounds, one assist and four steals.

Junior, Mahalia Delgado, added four points, one rebound, one assist and two steals, while freshman, DD Delgado, finished with two points, two rebounds, two assists and five steal.

The Lady Wolverines closed out the regular season on Friday on the road against Amherst. Results were not available at press time. They will have a practice game on Tuesday at Ropes. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Lady Wolverines will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs and will play the winner of McLean and Valley.
