The Littlefield Lady Cats fell on the road on Friday against the Childress Lady Cats, 0-3, in district play.

With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 19-12 overall, 2-5 in district play.

A dig by Abigail Ybarbo hit the foul pole to open set one for Littlefield, but Aspen Lomax’s serve on the next play for Childress sailed out of bounds, tying the set 1-1. Bryndle Ray sent a hit out of bounds, but Kyndal Edgemon answered with a kill off of the block attempt by Adah Henderson, making the score, 2-2. Henderson responded with a kill off of Ray for Childress, sparking a four-point rally, before Jena Preston sent a serve short of the net, making the score, 3-6.

Littlefield would battle back, as Henderson was called for touching the net on a kill attempt to trim the lead to, 4-6. Julie Bownds followed it up with a kill on the back line, but Childress fired right back, as Bownds was blocked by Henderson for a kill, making the score, 5-7. Littlefield was called for an illegal attack and Bownds sent a hit out of bounds on the next play, pushing the Childress lead to, 5-9.

Henderson served up an ace off of Kaeleigh Logan, before sending her next serve out of bounds to make the score, 6-10. Kenzi Jordan sent a hit into the net for Littlefield, but Childress couldn’t capitalize, as Chloe Churchill’s serve fell short of the net, making the score, 7-12. Edgemon sent a kill sailing out of bounds and Corbin Daniel followed it up with a kill through the block attempt of Madison McNeese and Jordan, pushing the lead to, 7-14.

Daniel sent a hit out of bounds, but Edgemon hit the foul pole with a tip on the next play, making the score, 8-15. Childress went on an, 4-0, scoring run, before McNeese delivered a kill off of the block attempt of Daniel, trimming the lead to, 9-18. Henderson was called for being in the net on a kill attempt and her next hit sailed over the back boundary line, cutting the lead to, 11-18, but Childress would go on a, 7-1, scoring run to take set one, 12-25.

Henderson sent a tip into the net to open set two, but she responded with a kill past Kennadi Hanlin to tie the set, 1-1. Edgemon answered with a kill for Littlefield, but Henderson again responded with a kill that sailed past Ybarbo, keeping the set tied, 2-2.

A tip by Kaydence Simpkins landed out of bounds on the sideline, but once again, Henderson answered with a tip over Logan for a kill to tie the set, 3- 3. Henderson sent a serve short of the net, but Littlefield couldn’t capitalize, as Jordan sent a hit out of bounds on the next play, making the score, 4-4.

A hit by Daniel was hit backwards by Bownds and Hanlin’s save attempt fell short of the net, making the score, 4-5. Churchill followed it up with an ace for Childress and a tip on the next play by Jordan landed out of bounds, pushing Childress’ lead to, 4-7. Childress went on a, 6-0 scoring run, before Jordan delivered a kill off of Lomax to make the score, 513. Daniel hit the foul pole with a hit and a tip on the next play by Sophie Stephens landed out of bounds on the sideline, trimming the lead to, 7-13, as Childress took a timeout to talk things over.

Out of the break, Logan sent a serve sailing out of bounds for Littlefield and Preston followed it up with a tip over Bownds for a kill to push their lead back out to, 7-15. Childress was called for four hits, after a hit by Daniel didn’t make it over the net, but a tip on the next play by Daniel was tipped out of bounds by McNeese, making the score, 8- 16. A hit by Bownds on the following play didn’t make it over the net and Daniel kept it going with a kill for Childress, stretching their lead to, 8-18.

Lomax sent a serve out of bounds, but Daniel answered with a kill off of the dig attempt by Hanlin, pushing their lead to, 919. Edgemon sent a kill off of the block attempt by Henderson, and Henderson touched the net on a block attempt against the tip from McNeese, cutting the lead to, 1119. Preston dropped in a tip for a kill, but Mylie Hernandez answered with a kill off of Lomax, making the score, 12-20. Childress, though, would close out the set on a, 5-2, scoring run to take set two, 14-25, going up 2-0 in the match.

Littlefield found themselves in a, 1-4 hole to open set three, before Henderson was called for touching the net on a kill attempt, making the score, 2-4. Henderson fired right back with a kill off Hernandez, but she was called for being in the net, trimming the lead to, 3-4. Simpkins sent a hit sailing out of bounds to tie the set, but Henderson answered with a kill to put Childress back in front, 4-5.

Henderson kept it going with a kill off of Ybarbo, but Childress sent a hit out of bounds on the next play, making the score, 5-6. Henderson responded with a kill off of Jordan and a hit by Jessica Rojero on the next play hit the foul pole, stretching the lead back out to, 5-8. Simpkins had a tip land out of bounds on the sideline, but Littlefield couldn’t capitalize, as Jordan sent a serve short of the net, making the score, 6-9.

Stephens delivered a kill on the next play, but a save by Lomax fell short of the net on the following play, making the score, 7-10. Daniel had a hit partially blocked by Rojero, before it fell in for a kill, however Bownds answered with a kill on the back line for Littlefield and Ray followed it up with an ace on the back line to cut the lead to, 9-11.

Hernandez blocked a hit by Daniel, but the second-chance hit from Journey Prince fell in for a kill to push their lead to, 9-12. A kill by Hanlin was tipped out of bounds by Lomax and Daniel came across the net on the next play, trimming the lead to, 11- 12. Childress scored three points in a row, as Littlefield took a time out to talk things over, trailing, 11-15.

Out of the break, a hit from Ybarbo fell in for a kill, and on the next play, Henderson was blocked by Jordan for a kill, making the score, 13-15. Childress went on a, 4-0, scoring run, before Simpkins sent a hit into the net to make the score, 14-19. Bri Valdez served up an ace off of Simpkins, before her next serve sailed out of bounds, pushing the lead to, 15-20.

Littlefield would rally back to make it a three-point game, on a kill from Edgemon, but a tip by Preston fell in for a kill to give Childress the set, 21-25, and the match, 0-3.

The Lady Cats hosted Shallowater for senior night on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. The Lady Cats’ play-off match-up is TBA.
