The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team suffered their first loss of the season on the road on Friday night, as they fell to the Sundown Roughnecks, 59-15.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 1-1 overall on the season.
Sundown jumped out to a, 21-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Hornets opened the second quarter with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Rustin Penrod. The twopoint conversion run by Bode Box was good, making the score, 21-8.
The Roughnecks responded with 32 unanswered points, to take a, 53-8, lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Box rushed for a six-yard touchdown and the PAT by Abram Rodriguez was good, cutting the lead to, 53-15. But, Sundown would put the exclamation point on the game with a 72-yard rushing touchdown, as they went on to take the contest, 59-15.
