Former Littlefield coach is arrested on felony charges

Todd Ray Rutledge, 59, who was indicted by the Lamb County Grand Jury on Sept. 15, 2020, on a felony charge of Indecency with Child, with Sexual Contact, was arrested by Hockley County Sheriff’s deputies at his home in Whitharral on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021,

The offense in the indictment states that on or about Nov. 1, 2019, Rutledge engaged in sexual conact with two children younger than 17 years of age.

Hockley County Sheriff’s deputies were notified of the felony warrant, and made the arrest for Lamb County.

Rutledge, who had taught or coached at five area schools, including Littlefield, posted a $25,000 bond, and was released from the Hockley County Jail.

The Lamb County District Attorney’s office continues working on the case.
