Bulldogs set to take on Cotton Center

The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity football team opened district with a 67-22, victory over the Whitharral Panthers on Friday.” With the win, the 8 th ranked Bulldogs improve to 7-0 overall on the season.

“I really thought our intensity was great from the start and we never let down,” Head Coach Matthew Hoover said. “We have really figured out how to finish games, and that will pay dividends towards the end of district and hopefully into play-offs.”

He added, “Offensively, I thought we could have blocked downfield better, and had a better play action passing game. I think fixing little things like those will help up us in the later stages of the season.”

The coach talked about their defensive performance, saying, “Defensively, I thought we were hitting on all cylinders. There is some open field tackling that we can work on, and some other little things, but I feel we are on the right path for success this season.”

The Bulldogs are slated to play Cotton Center on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
