area athletes represent lamb county at State track meet

Springlake-Earth and Sudan were represented at the U.I.L. State Track Meet this past weekend where they brought home two gold medals and two silver medals.

For Sudan, they were represented by Slade Nickels, who took second place in the 2A men’s high jump competition, where he cleared the bar at 6’5”.

In 1A competition, Springlake-Earth senior, Taytum Goodman, captured her second consecutive gold medal in the women’s 3,200-meter run, clocking a time of 11:04.68. She owns the 1A conference record for the women’s 3,200, which she set in 2023 with a time of 10:56.53.

Goodman also four-peated in the women’s 1,600-meter run, clocking a 5:03.60, to set the 1A women’s 1,600-meter run record, breaking her old record of 5:04.92 that she set in 2023. She also captured silver in the 1A women’s 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:14.88.

Also competing for Springlake-Earth, was senior Emma Samaron, who finished sixth in the 1A women’s 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.28. And on the boy’s side, senior, Xavyer Mosqueda, competed in the 1A Men’s shot put competition, throwing a personal best, 45’8”.
