The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity football team had their lone scrimmage last week on the road with Nazareth. This week they set their sights on their season-opener, as they travel to Silverton to take on the Owls.

Anton Head Coach Matthew Hoover talked about the scrimmage, saying, “We took away that we are at a good spot physically, and mentally. There is still much improvement on both ends that needs to be done.”

He added, “We really need to become more efficient at sustaining blocks. Sustain blocks. It’s simple, if we can do that, we will be successful.”

He talked about what they will have to do in order to be succesful on Friday, saying, offensively, we will have to stay physical from the kick off to the final whistle. It’s about getting turnovers on defense and not committing turnovers on offense.”

The contest is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 p.m.
