The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team suffered a tough loss during their Homecoming game on Friday, as they fell to the Wildorado Mustangs, 23-22.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 2-3 overall on the season.

“Losing is tough, but losing a winnable game is even worse,” Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa said. “We played bad, and Wildarado played better than we did. We just need to continue to grow as a young team.”

He added, “We must correct some things and make sure we have the right attitude going into the game.”

The Coach talked about their match-up with Claude this Thursday, saying, “We will have to throw the ball well to win and continue to run it. Last week, we couldn’t throw the ball very well. But, it happens, and we need to learn from it and move on.”

He added, “Defensively we need to tackle better, and continue to just get better. We need to continue to be physical. Claude is young just like us and we will have to play well to win. Like is the norm. They have a good running back and a good receiver. Defensively, they have a good linebacker, so, it should be a good game once again.”

Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Bulldog Stadium in Amherst.
