The Amherst Bulldogs turn their attention to Wellman-Union this week, after their contest last week with Lorenzo was canceled due to the Hornets not having enough players.

“This week is Homecoming,” Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa said. “We have Wellman-Union; they’re big, and strong. We will have our work cut out for us. Hopefully we will be 100 percent for the first time in three years. We need to play focused and intense.”

He added, “Not having a game last week can be either a blessing or a wake up call. I hope its a blessing. We needed time to get some fundamentals straight. We need to get better at blocking and tackling. Wellman has some big backs and they run hard and are tough. They have another kid who is quick with good moves, so tackling is going to be huge for us this week. Also, our execution on offense and defense; we can’t have any blown assignments”

Coach Hinojosa talked about what they will have to do offensively, against the Wildcats, saying, “On offense, we need to execute and spread the ball around when we throw it. Also we need to run the ball and get to blocking better and running the ball hard.”

Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
