The Amherst Bulldogs are coming off of their lone scrimmage last week against Happy and Petersburg, as they look to begin preparation for their week one match-up against Lubbock Home School.

“We played well, and we executed,” Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa said. “Omar [Reyes] ran the ball physical and hard. Jaime [Garcia], Isaac [Herrera] and Gabriel [Garcia] all caught multiple passes and Chris [Gonzales] threw the ball extremely well.”

He added, “So overall I was pleased with our effort. On defense, Sergio Gonzalez stood out. He played well at our mike linebacker spot. We showed growth, which is good for a very young team. So I think we will continue to get better.

The Bulldogs are set to take on Lubbock Home School on Friday.

Coach Hinojosa talked about the match-up, saying, “Lubbock Home School plays well in spurts. So we will have to stop the run, they have two backs who can play. They also have a big offensive lineman.” He added, “We will have to play hard and execute and see where it leads us. On Offense, we will have to stay balanced and continue to improve.”

Kick-off for this contest is slated for 7:30 p.m.
