#15 Mustangs stay perfect in district against Bovina

The 15th ranked Olton Mustangs closed out the first half of district play on Tuesday with an, 85-53, victory over Bovina.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 19-1 overall, 4-0 in district play.

Chris Urbina led the Mustangs in the opening frame, pouring in 13 points to help the Mustangs to a, 20-16, lead at the end of the first quarter. Jack Allcorn knocked down a pair of threes in the second quarter and six points from Israel Santillan helped push the Mustang’s lead out to, 46-33, heading into the locker room at halftime.

Jake Soliz tallied seven points in the third quarter to go along with six points from Aldo Vasquez, making the score, 65-45, heading into the final quarter of play.

In the fourth quarter, the Mustangs outscored Bovina, 20-8, to take the contest, 85-53.

The Mustangs were led by Urbina who netted 17 points and he was joined in doublefigures scoring by Allcorn and Soliz, who each tallied 14 points and Israel Santillan who finished with 10 points.

Bryson Ramage and Vasquez each netted eight points, while Ty Struve and Andrew Martinez each added five points and Alex Santillan finished with four points in the contest.

The Mustangs will be back in action on Tuesday with a road game against Vega.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
