#13 Mustangs take down Roughriders, 70-44

The 13th ranked Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team throttled the Boys Ranch Roughriders on Friday, 70-44.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 21-1 overall, 6-0 in district play.

Olton jumped out to a seven-point lead, 19-12, in the first quarter, behind three triples from senior, Jack Allcorn. They poured in 24 points in the second quarter, behind 11 of Chris Urbina’s 14 points in the game, taking a, 43-20, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Both teams netted 13 points in the third quarter and the Mustangs edged out Boys Ranch, 14-11, in the fmal quarter to take the contest, 70-44.

Israel Santillan, led the Mustangs in scoring with 15 points, and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Urbina, who netted 14 points and Allcorn and Brennen Huguley, who each finished with 10 points.

Bryson Ramage and Jake Soliz each tallied six points, while Ty Struve contributed three points and Aldo Vasquez, Andrew Martinez and Alex Santillan each finished with two points in the contest.

The Mustangs hosted Farwell on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will close out the regular season on Friday with a road game against Bovina.

Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
