#12 Olton Mustangs finish district play undefeated

The Olton Mustang’s varsity basketball team closed out the regular season on Friday with a, 68-39, victory over Bovina to fmish the season as undefeated District champions.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 23-1 overall on the season.

It was a tight game early-on with Olton holding a one-point advantage, 12-11, heading into quarter number two. The Mustangs pulled away in the second quarter, pouring in 17 points to take a, 29-20, lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, Olton outscored Bovina, 18-7, in the third quarter and, 21-12, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 68-39.

Jack Allcorn led the team in scoring with 12 points, while Israel Santillan tallied 11 points. Andrew Martinez and Chris Urbina each tallied eight points and Joe Canchola and Bryson Ramage each contributed six points.

Alex Santillan chipped in five points, while Aldo Vasquez and Jake Soliz each chipped in four points and Ty Struve and Brennen Huguley each finished with two points.

The Mustangs will play Ralls on Thursday at Abernathy at 8 p.m. in the Class 2A Bi-district round of the play-offs.
