Fillies close out Wildcat Classic with loss to Dumas

The Olton Fillies’ varsity basketball team came up short in their final game of the Wildcat Classic last Wednesday, falling to the Dumas Demonettes, 57-43.

After tallying just two points in the first quarter, Olton poured in 12 points in the second frame to cut the lead to, 28-14, going into the locker room at halftime.

Olton poured in 19 points in the third quarter, behind eight points from Makenly Smith to slice the lead to, 40-33, heading into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, though, Dumas outscored the Fil-lies, 17-10, to take the contest, 57-43.

Smith led the Fillies in scoring with 19 points, while she was joined in double-figures scoring by Olivia Cox, who finished with 11 points. Kylee Noack chipped in nine points, while Annalise Ramage and Shaylee Leathers each finished with two points in the contest.

The Fillies hosted the Lubbock Titans on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will open district play on Friday on the road against Farwell.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
