NETTES WIN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES TO OPEN GRUVER HOLIDAY CLASSIC

The Sudan Nettes won both their day one games at the Gruver Holiday Classic this past weekend, as they took down Perryton, 60-55, and Spearman, 50-37.

Against Perryton, the Nettes jumped out to a, 19-9, lead, but Perryton would rally back in the second frame to outscore the Nettes, 18-16, trimming the Sudan lead to, 35-27, going into the locker room at halftime.

Perryton would again outscore the Nettes in the third quarter, 14-11, to make it a four-point game, 46-41, going into the final quarter of play. But, both teams would net 14 points in the final frame, as Sudan prevailed in their tournament-opener, 60-55.

Stevi Lockhart led the team in scoring with 27 points, to go along with two rebounds and two steals, while Addison Boehning, tallied 23 points, six steals, two rebounds, two assists and one block. Gracyn Shultz chipped in five points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist, while Liz Sital contributed four points, three steals two rebounds and two assists.

Riley Edens notched one point, one rebound, one steal and one block, while Sydney Cornelius chipped in one rebound and two steals, and Kambry Tolbert, added three rebounds and one assist. Elaine Martinez added three rebounds and one assist, while Braelyn Pointer finished with one block in the contest.

In their second game of the day on Dec. 28 th , Sudan took down Spearman, 50-37.

The Nettes jumped out to a, 12-8, lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They added 10 points in the second frame to make the score, 22-17, going into the locker room at halftime and outscored Spearman, 11-10, in the third quarter to make the score, 33-27, going into the final quarter of play.

In the final quarter, Sudan slammed the door with a 17-point outing to take the contest, 50-37.

Boehning led the team in scoring, to go along with six rebounds, six steals and one assist, while Lockhart added nine points, two assists, two steals and one rebound. Edens chipped in seven points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Sital contributed four points, two rebounds and two steals.

Pointer added three points, three assists, three steal and one rebound, while Shultz tallied three points, five steals, three assists and two rebounds, and Martinez added one rebound. Tolbert added one steal, while Landree Gonzales chipped in three rebounds and Cornelius finished with one assist and one steal.
