Mustangs cruise past Cowboys on the road

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team cruised to a victory on the road on Friday over the Plains Cowboys, 84-38.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 14-2 overall on the season.

Olton came out hot in the first quarter, pouring in 26 points. They kept it going offensively in the second frame, adding 22 points to make the score, 48-22, going into the locker room at halftime.

They netted 22 points in the third quarter to open the second half and dropped 14 points in the final quarter to take the contest, 84-38.

Chris Urbina led the team in scoring with 19 points and was joined in double-figures scoring by Nick Casares, who netted 15 points, Jake Soliz, who chipped in 13 points and Nathan Urbina, who finished with 11 points.

Alex Santillan, Joe Canchola, Andrew Martinez and Brennon Huguley each added six points and Jimmy Munoz finished with two points in the contest.

The Mustangs hosted the Littlefield Wildcats on Monday. Results were not available at press time. They will be traveling to Littlefield next week for the Wildcat Classic where they will take on Dumas in their first round matchup on Monday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
