Lady Cats win first game of D.C. Shootout

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team won their tournament-opener on Thursday over Midland Christian, 56-19, at the Denver City Shootout.

Littlefield poured in 21 points in the first quarter to take a, 21-6, lead into the second frame. Midland Christian though, would outscore the Lady Cats, 8-7, in quarter number two to trim the lead to, 28-14, going into the locker room at halftime.

However, in the second half, the Lady Cats netted 11 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth quarter, while holding Midland Christian to just five total points in the second half, taking the contest, 56-19.

Madison McNeese led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Arianna Cruz joined her in doublefigures scoring with 12 points and Kyndal Edgemon netted 10 points.

Kennadi Hanlin chipped in six points, while Ashtyn Parker and Emily Champion each finished with three points and Amiah Elizondo and Mahalia Huey each finished with two points.

The Lady Cats will return to action at Wildcat Gym on Tuesday when they host the Floydada Lady Winds.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
