The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team throttled the Andrews Fillies on Thursday, 68-18, in their Shallowater Tournament-opener.

Sudan came out on fire, pouring in 23 points in the opening quarter. They added 17 points in the second frame to take a, 40-9, lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Nettes outscored the Fillies, 18-5, and 10-4, to take the contest, 68-18.

Stevi Lockhart led the team team with 16 points, to go along with four assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks, while Addison Boehning, tallied 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals and one assist and Gracyn Shultz chipped in 15 points, eight rebounds, five steals, three assists and one block.

Sydney Cornelius tallied six points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Landree Gonzales contributed four points, four steals, two assists and two rebounds and Elaine Martinez added four points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist.

Riley Edens chipped in four points, five rebounds and two steals, while Kambry Tolbert added two points, two steals, one rebound and one assist and Braelyn Pointer finished with two points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Nettes played Estacado and Shallowater on Friday and Lubbock High on Saturday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday when they travel to Levelland to take on the Loboettes.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
