Mustangs throttle Nazareth, 72-42

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team throttled the Nazareth Swifts at home on Friday, 72-42, to improve to 2-0 overall on the year.

Olton jumped out to a, 15-4, lead in the first quarter and added 19 points in the second frame to take a, 31-16, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Mustangs came out hot in the third quarter, as they poured in 24 points to extend their lead to, 55-32, heading into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, Olton outscored the Swifts, 17-10, to take the contest, 72-42.

The Mustangs finished with five players in double-figures, led by Alex Santillan who finished with 14 points. Jake Soliz tallied 13 points, while Chris Urbina and Andrew Martinez each tallied 11 points and Brennon Huguley netted 10 points.

Nathan Urbina chipped in five points, while Joe Canchola added four points and Jimmy Munoz finished with two points.

The Mustangs were at Lockney on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Nov. 30 th with a road game against Hale Center.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
