Nettes fall to Frenship in Tournament-opener

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team fell in their first game at the Frenship Tournament on Thursday to the host team Lady Tigers, 80-49, for their first loss of the season.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 4-1 overall on the season.

Frenship jumped out to a, 21-14, lead to end the first quarter, but the Nettes poured in 15 points in the second frame to cut the lead to, 41-29, going into the locker room at halftime.

The Nettes netted 10 points in each of the final two quarters, but fell to the Lady Tigers, 80-49.

Junior, Stevi Lockhart, led the team in scoring with 32 points, to go along with two rebounds and one assist, while senior, Addison Boehning, chipped in 12 points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.

Landree Gonzalez contributed three points, three steals, two rebounds and one assist, while Riley Edens, added two points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal, and Gracyn Shultz tallied two rebounds, two steals and one assist. Elaine Martinez added one assist, while Sydney Cornelius chipped in one rebound and one assist and Braelyn Pointer finished with one rebound.

The Nettes played Montwood on Friday in their second game of tournament play at the Frenship Tournament. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Monday with a road game against Randall.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
