Nettes rally past Abernathy, 57-51

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team rallied back on the road on Tuesday to take down Abernathy, 57-51.

With the win, the Nettes are 4-0 overall on the season.

Sudan outscored Abernathy, 10-4, in the first quarter, but the Lady Lopes rallied in the second frame, pouring in 22 points, while holding the Nettes to just eight, taking a, 26-18, lead into the locker room at halftime. Sudan came out strong in the second half, netting 23 points to regain the lead, 41-37, heading into the final quarter of play. In the fourth, Sudan outscored Abernathy, 16-14, to hold on for the victory over the Lady Lopes, 57-51.

Senior, Addison Boehning, led the team with 25 points, to go along with nine rebounds, seven steals and two assists. Junior, Stevi Lockhart, tallied 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block, while senior, Liz Sital, chipped in five points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Riley Edens contributed five points, four rebounds and one steal, while junior, Braelyn Pointer contributed four points and two rebounds. Landree Gonzales added two rebounds and two steals, while Kambry Tolbert chipped in one rebound and Gracyn Shultz finished with one steal.

The Nettes were in the Frenship Tournament Thursday and Friday. They played the host team Frenship Thursday and Montwood on Friday. They will continue their season on Monday against Randall.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
