Nettes rally past Sands on the road, 43-42

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team rallied back on Tuesday to take down the Sands Fillies on the road, 43-42, to move to 2-0 overall on the season.

The game was neck-and-neck after one court at, 12 points a piece. Sands, though, would outscore the Nettes, 9-8, in the second frame to take a, 21-20, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Fillies would create some separation in the third quarter, as they outscore Sudan, 13-8, to extend their lead to, 34-28, heading into the final quarter of play.

The Nettes would not be denied, outscoring Sands, 15-8, in the final frame to edge out the Fillies, 43-42.

The Nettes were led by junior, Stevi Lockhart, who finished with 19 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal, and senior, Addison Boehning, who posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals.

Senior, Litz Sital, tallied three points, four rebounds and four assists, while junior, Gracyn Shultz, chipped in three points, five assists and three rebounds, and junior, Braelyn Pointer, contributed three points and three rebounds.

Senior, Sydney Cornelius, notched two points and one steal, while Riley Edens added two points, six rebounds and one assist, Kambry Tolbert added one steal and Elaine Martinez finished with three rebounds.

The Nettes played Claude on Saturday at Randall High School. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday when they go on the road to Abernathy to take on the Lady Lopes.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
