Nettes blast Smyer, 72-35, to open 2021-22 campaign

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team opened the season with a, 72-35, victory over Smyer on Saturday.

With the win, they begin the season 1-0 overall.

Sudan jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and added 12 points in the second quarter to take a, 35-21, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Nettes outscored the Lady Cats, 11-5, in the third quarter, before pouring in 26 fourth-quarter points to route the Lady Cats, 72-35

Ṫhe Nettes were led by junior, Stevi Lockhart, who finished with 23 points, six assists, three steals and one rebound. Senior, Liz Sital, tallied 16 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds, while senior, Addison Boehning, chipped in 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Riley Edens contributed six points, six rebounds, two steals and a block, while junior, Gracyn Shultz, tallied five points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block and Elaine Martinez finished with four points, four steals and two assists.

Kambry Tolbert notched three points, three assists and one steal, while Landree Gonzales finished with four rebounds, three steals, two points and one block and senior, Sydney Cornelius, finished with three rebounds and three steals.

The Nettes hosted Sands on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Saturday when they travel to Claude to take on the Fillies.

Tip-off is set for noon.
