SUDAN COMES UP SHORT AGAINST STAMFORD

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team came up short on Friday, as they fell to Stamford at Post, 46-20.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-4 overall on the season. Dylan Faulks rushed for a one yard touchdown in the first quarter to put Stamford in front, 6-0, but the Hornets answered in the second quarter, as Joel Williams, punched in a three-yard score to tie the game, 6-6.

Later in the quarter, Charles Moore caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Faulks to put Stamford back in front. They converted the two-point conversion to make the score, 14-6, going into the locker room at halftime.

Out of the break, Sudan would score on a one-yard touchdown run by Trent Wilson. He also ran in the two-point conversion to tie the game, 14-14. But, Stamford would answer with a one-yard score to regain the lead, 20-14, after the failed two-point conversion.

Wilson broke free for a 36-yard rushing touchdown, as Sudan again tied the game, 20-20, but after that it was all Stamford, as they score, 26-unanswered points to close out the game, 46-20.

Wilson finished the game with 17 carries for 113 yards and two touchdowns, while Williams added 10 carries for 21 yards and one touchdown. Josue Cervera finished with six carries for 20 yards.

Defensively, Jaden Conley led the team with 15 total tackles including one for loss, while Drew Carr finished with 14 total tackles, including one for a loss. Wilson had seven total tackles while Anthony Rodriguez finished with nine total tackles.

Michael Limon had an interception to along with three tackles, while Sal Juarez tallied six tackles and a fumble recovery and Marcello King finished with two tackles and a fumble recovery.

Sudan will host Crosbyton on Friday as their pre-district schedule continues.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
