TPWD Pilot Program encourages Hunter mentorship

LUBBOCK — In an effort to promote the mentorship of new hunters in Texas, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Panhandle Wildlife District has announced the “Mentor a New Hunter” pilot program in the region. Participants have an opportunity to gain invaluable field experience, be recognized by TPWD, along with the chance to win prizes from Cabela’s, First Lite Hunting Apparel and more.

Curry to join PCG Staff

Whitney Curry will join the Plains Cotton Growers staff as Director of Communications and Public Affairs effective September 15. Curry will fill the position vacated by Mary Jane Buerkle, who is leaving the organization to pursue family business interests in Haskell.

Master Marketer program begins this month; content offered online

Can you reduce risk and get more profit from your farm/ranch operation? Since 1996, more than 1,200 participants have graduated from 30 Master Marketer programs. Participants report increased financial returns to their farming and ranching operations as well as increased understanding of risk management concepts.

Trunk or Treat at hosital to be drive-thru event

This year, because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lamb Healthcare Center’s Annual Trunk or Treat will be a drive-through event, to promote a safe Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 6 p.m. on the hospital’s north (front) parking lot.
